What's Happening at Christ the King
July 7, 2010
Bible Verse of the Week: Psalm 25: 4-7
Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.
Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for your goodness' sake, O Lord!
Thanks to Priscilla Berg and all of our Habitat for Humanity Volunteers
Priscilla Berg has done a marvelous job serving as our Habitat Chair for the past 10 years. We want to thank her and all of our volunteers for their willingness to serve and work hard during our Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity project in Oakdale in June. We had a very successful week, with full crews every day. Thanks to those of you who worked on site and to those who provided food. Thanks for the patience and cooperation of those who worked on Friday when the crew had to quit early because of the weather. Thanks for everyone's willingness to do whatever task they were assigned.
Habitat 2010
Every nail pounded, every board cut, every shovel full of dirt, every sweep of a broom, every hour in the kitchen, helped make progress toward providing affordable housing for low-income families in the Twin Cities. Fifty people were involved in this year's effort. In addition to providing morning and afternoon snacks each day, we provided 89 person-days of labor.
The families who will be living in the units CtK worked on had finished their sweat equity hours, and so were not working on site, but we spoke to a neighbor in one of the homes across the street. He expressed profound thanks for the efforts of volunteers who enable families like his to own a home.
Although Priscilla still plans to participate, she is resigning as organizer of the project. If any of you would be willing to chair or co-chair next year's effort, please let Regina Kaun (chair of the Social Ministry Team) <Regina35@yahoo.com> or Priscilla know. She says she will be glad to provide a time-line of things to do, as well as all of the bulletin and Herald announcements, etc

Youth and Family Pastor Call Committee
The Call Committee met again with Sister Noreen Stevens from the SPAS office. We reviewed what we had learned through the interview process and talked about the committee's desire to find a pastor who has a clear vision for Children's Youth and Family Ministry, is an innovator and a leader. Noreen plans to provide us with new candidate names in the next couple of weeks so that we can begin interviewing the end of July and the first part of August. Please continue to pray for the committee and our candidates in this discernment process.
